The URC at Greenbelt
The United Reformed Church has had a presence at Greenbelt for several years. We run a popular café, offer crafts and other family activities, and have a full and engaging programme. We also oversee the youth programme and provision for Greenbelt.
Greenbelt 2025
Thursday 21 – Sunday 24 August 2025,
Boughton House, near Kettering
A wonderful team of over 80 URC volunteers is contributing to the brilliant experience of Greenbelt Festival.
Our youth team is stronger than ever and our new venue, The Table, shared with Trussell, promises to be a prime place for in depth conversation on a range of issues, including destigmatising poverty, better inclusion of people with disabilities, decolonising pilgrimage and how to sustain hope after the festival – a real concern for many when faced with marginalisation by wider society and often by churches too.
Worship with us!
Sunday worship at Greenbelt is really special. If you don’t have a weekend ticket, you can still join on site (local residents can attend the Greenbelt Sunday morning communion service for free) or join us online in association with yourchurch at our cafe-style service at 6:30pm.
For our evening service, you can design a banknote that you think Jesus might like, as we talk about money and empire!

Crafting a voice for justice
Thank you to the 200+ people who sent us in craft items to display in our venue during the festival. We’ll make sure they all go to good homes!
Partner organisation
We are excited to partner with anti-poverty charity Trussell to host The Table café at Greenbelt this year, helping us lean further into our theme of ‘Crafting a voice for justice’.

What is Greenbelt?
Greenbelt Festival is a place where artistry, activism and belief come together; a place full of a variety of people, usually from a Christian background and some not.
Greenbelt festivalgoers are extremely activist, committed to change, getting involved in issues, and spending time getting to the heart of the matter.

Greenbelt 2023 Video
Greenbelt celebrated 50 years in 2023, and the URC was there. We took a brilliant team, offering a truly remarkable welcome, along with ‘rubbish’ food that was warm, nutritious, and very well priced.

Greenbelt in words…
Probably the best thing I've done all this year. If not volunteering I'd gladly pay to return – but volunteering was rewarding in itself.

Super duper place, really well done to the team!

It was great to see an explicit effort made to increase racial diversity by inviting a group of people from minority ethnic backgrounds to attend without the burdens of cost or camping. It was also good to see diversity in the Greenbelt programme and artistry side of things.

Lovely people, lovely food.

I felt really positive on the whole about my experience as a URC volunteer, but also enjoying the festival atmosphere and activities of Greenbelt. I appreciated the opportunity to both serve and welcome as well as be part of the festival in a more in-depth way.

I loved Greenbelt! I had the most incredible experience, both in terms of fun and spiritually. It was beautiful and I loved what we did with the waste food.

I loved the Revolting Christians theme: the posters were fabulous and brought about conversations.

The evening Taizé worship was a very calming way to connect with God. I have never experienced that style of worship before but enjoyed being outside in the dim light with a sea of people connected in worship.

Our fave snacking venu[e] which showed the way – just got to love non-conformists!

The atmosphere was great. A delightful pleasure to be at Greenbelt. Both the people and the atmosphere get a 10/10. […] it was great to be part of an environmentally friendly festival, working to support the climate and minimise excess waste [that is] harmful to the environment. I am truly inspired!

This is what the URC does so well: create safe space and sanctuary for vulnerable and marginalised communities. Stepping into the URC Café felt like a home coming.
