Talking about faith in latest Reform

How to speak about faith? It’s a question considered by several of the contributors to the latest edition of the URC’s Reform magazine.

Michael Harvey, founder of Back to Church Sunday, thinks it’s simpler than we think. He has developed a method he calls ACORN, which is currently being trialled in the URC’s North-Western Synod. URC General Secretary John Bradbury believes the URC needs to re-think its approach to evangelism – and hopes the Church Life Review will help support that change.  Meanwhile, Matt Currey says there’s still a place for printed resources in our church, and Sophia Rayzan draws on the Hitchcock 1953 film I Confess for inspiration.

Elsewhere, an expert panel asks whether compassion is under threat in our society, Martha Hunt explores the theology of making peace, and Peter Knowles is fascinated by what Charles Dickens had to say about Christian Faith.

Plus all our usual wide ranger of features, from film and TV reviews to engaging reflections on Scripture and faith experience. Not to mention Paul Kerenza trying to bag the best biscuit at church.

The Issue 6/2025 edition of Reform is available from 14 September.
