Resources Committee Member – Finance

We are seeking immediate nominations and applications for a finance member of Resources Committee: a committee which not only supports key operational services delivered from the Offices of General Assembly but serves the wider denomination.  It is an opportunity to help shape and support a key committee as it takes a strategic approach to key areas of governance and operations.  Terms of Reference are available here (subject to change in February 2026).

Have you worked in local church finances? Do you understand charity governance and finance? Do you have a passion for effective operations? Could you support strategy development and good governance? If so, we are looking for 1 finance committee members – Role description here.

The current role holder says, “serving on Resources Committee has given me a better understanding and opportunity to hear where we are going as a denomination, in a way that no other space does. It is also a great way to meet people and an opportunity to be part of shaping the future”.

Member of Children’s and Youth Programme Enabling Group

Do you volunteer or work with children in the United Reformed Church?  Are you passionate about ensuring their voice is heard?

We are looking for two people to sit on the new children’s and youth programme enabling group as Children’s Advocates.

This is a volunteer role, involving attending meetings in person and online, to champion the voice and needs of children as we plan a programme of resources, training, events and opportunities to support local churches in their work with children and young people.  All expenses are covered.

General Assembly Appointments Panel Members

We are seeking eight people to serve on a Panel on behalf of the General Assembly, to participate, for 5 years, in the process of the appointment of Synod Moderators and other General Assembly roles reserved for Ministers of the Word and Sacraments.

Applicants would need to bring experience of engaging at Synod or General Assembly level, be a good communicator, and have an understanding of the conciliar nature of the United Reformed Church (URC) and its governance. It would be beneficial to have experience in convening meetings and be willing to convene a panel. (See Person Specification for more information.)

The membership of this Panel will be nominated to reflect the diversity of the URC.

Relevant General Assembly papers explaining more about this can be found: (GA Book of Reports 2024 Paper H10 p.210 and GA Book of Reports Paper J1 p.186)

Being part of this Panel will require a commitment to ongoing training (see p.214 of GA Book of Reports 2024, Paper H10) and a willingness to be available to serve on the majority of such panels for 5 years.

This role requires willingness to travel as assessments will take place in Synods relevant to the role or within London.
