Volunteer Positions
Safeguarding Committee – Convenor
We are seeking applications for the Convenor of the United Reformed Church Safeguarding Committee, you must be a member of the URC.
You will have a current or recent working knowledge of safeguarding with children and/or adults at risk and have an understanding of contextualised safeguarding withing the faith setting.
As the convenor of the committee you will be instrumental in overseeing the implementation of the URC’s safeguarding polices and the strategic management of safeguarding across the denomination. You will support the Head of Safeguarding in their role as Secretary to the committee and you will chair the committee.

The Convenor of the Board of Studies is appointed by the College and agreed by General Assembly which appoint the postholder to the Board of Governors and also as a Trustee of the College.

The Clerk to the Board of Studies is a full voting member of the Board and an elector for the Lewis and Gibson Scholarship award along with Senatus, Chair of the Governors and Convenor of the Board of Studies.

Member of the Worship, Faith and Order Committee
Come and help us think about worship, faith, and order!
We are looking for up to three new members of the Worship, Faith and Order Committee which General Assembly has established to address issues of worship, faith and order on behalf of the URC. The Committee participates in, and responds to, ecumenical and inter-faith discussions, advises Assembly (and its officers and Committees) on questions about worship, faith and order and listens to concerns on these matters from Synods and individuals. The Committee, from time to time, publishes material relating to worship, faith and order and has oversight of the URC Worship Book, sometimes setting up working parties to develop new material or revise the book. It acts as a sounding board for the Minister for Digital Worship and oversees the resources he curates and creates. It receives reports from the URC Spirituality Group.

Congregational Fund Board Trustee
At the heart of the Congregational Fund Board lies a strong commitment to supporting ministers and students in times of financial need. This small yet impactful charity, with an annual income of approximately £20,000, offers vital assistance to aged and/or infirm ministers, ministers in training, and students facing sudden and unexpected financial challenges. The Board also provides annual study grants to students undertaking ministry training or higher-degree studies.
The Board is composed of both lay and ordained trustees and includes representatives from the Union of Welsh Independents, the Congregational Federation, the Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches, the Unaffiliated Congregational Churches Charities, and the United Reformed Church.
The Board is currently seeking a trustee to represent the United Reformed
Church.
As part of the Board, this role offers an opportunity to actively contribute to meaningful decision-making and to support the vital work of the charity, shaping its efforts to assist ministers and students across the community.
