Seven new URC ministers from Wessex to Wales had the opportunity to visit Church House in November. Staff from across all the Assembly Offices were pleased to spend time with the ministers, who were between one month and one year into their first appointments.
In turn, the ministers were able to ask questions about the wider work of the URC and how they might be supported in their own local ministries.
Maurice Omorojie, who is just a couple of months into his ministry in Southern Synod, said the visit was “an eye-opener”. He realised that the work going on in the Assembly Offices was “bigger than I could imagine” and that while local church leaders and members may see programmes emerging from the offices, “you don’t meet the people behind them. It made me more confident in my local work, knowing there are people I can connect with.”
Tina Wilson, whose ministry covers much of Norfolk, added: “I appreciated the opportunity to share openly and learn from one another; and the chance to speak with colleagues from different departments helped me see how supported we are across the wider church.”
