Home Jobs Volunteers

Do you have an analytical mind, experience with workplace disciplinary investigations, Human Resources, the police or other investigation work?  If so we need you!

The URC is currently looking for more volunteers to serve on the Disciplinary Investigation Panel which looks into allegations of misconduct against ministers and CRCWs.  For each case three members of the Panel work together to examine the allegations that have been made, interview witnesses and the minister, write a short report to the Assembly Standing Panel on Discipline outlining if there is, on the face of it, a case to answer and, if there is, continue to investigate.  They present their findings, and witnesses, to an Assembly Commission which makes findings of fact and decides, if matters are proved, on the best way forward.  For each case, another panel member is appointed to work with the minister to assist, if they wish, in the response to the allegations and the presentation of their case.  If a case reaches the appeal stage the Investigation Team (who might have appealed the original decision or who might be responding to such an appeal) will be required to present and respond before an Appeal Commission.

Investigators might have a background in the police, HR, or workplace disciplinary investigations.  They need to be able to work as part of a team, ask searching questions, be proficient at using Zoom, and available for training which is given before they can start work and to commit, often significant amounts of time, in an investigation. All expenses are paid but this is a voluntary role.  A case might take 4-6 months before a hearing is convened and a further three or so months might be needed if there is an appeal.

If you feel you have the gifts, graces, and skills – and are willing to undergo a safer recruitment process – please email Andy Braunston, Training Officer, via [email protected] setting out your skills and experience.
