Youth DisASSEMBLED

It may not be possible for Youth Assembly to gather as normal at Whitemoor Lakes this year, but this does not stop URC Youth. Together in spirit, if not in body, there will be a series of online events on our theme of Heroes and Villains throughout the year, starting with two events on the weekend which might already be marked in your diary.

Saturday 30 January 2021, from 8pm to 9.30pm, join for a social evening with contributions from the fabulous 'Folk On' , known to many from their appearance at Greenbelt in 2019. Then gather on Sunday evening, from 8pm onward, for worship, prayer, discussion and chat. the event is open to all young peple aged 14 to 25 with a connection to the URC.

Use the URC Youth Assembly 2021 button on the Children's and Youth Work home page or go directly to Eventbrite to book.

Spread the news, encourage participation, tell anyone who might be interested - let's make this an event that goes down as a high point in URC Youth history.

Please note that you will need to read and submit some paperwork for this event. This information can be found below.

URC Youth is the umbrella title for all those young people and adults who are connected with the URC and fall into the 11 to 25 age bracket.

'Our mission is to discover God, help each other grow in the Christian faith and, though our lives, reflect God's love to all'

Each year the URC Youth Assembly brings together a diverse group of under-25s from across Scotland, England and Wales for a weekend of business and fun combined, exploring issues and topics relevant to Church, society and life through workshops, seminars, discussions and creative activitiy.

IMPORTANT NEWS:

Due to the current situation and the uncertainty of how things might be in January, the Youth Executive have taken the difficult but wise step of cancelling Youth Assembly this year. There will be news at a later date of a social event and worship to take place that weekend online, and more information about how some of the important decisions will be made (including finding a way for those for whom this would have been their last Youth Assembly to take part in one more before leaving URC Youth)

Here is the letter from Reuben (Youth Assembly Moderator) and the Youth Executive explaining more about their decision and the implications of this.

Due to the impact of Covid-19 on the ability of the Youth Executive to meet together and the necessary decision to change the nature of Youth Assembly for 2021 - with the implications on the viability of elections - it has been decided that Reuben and Jo should continue for a further year as Youth Assembly Moderator and Moderator Elect.
