Climate change: we can't rule out leaving our homeland

mainataliaVisitors from the Pacific island nations of Kiribati and Tuvalu have spoken movingly to the United Reformed Church about their uncertain future due to climate change.

Kiribati and Tuvalu are among the lowest-lying in the world. At its highest point Tuvalu is four metres above sea level.

Maina Talia the climate change officer for the United Reformed Church's partner the Ekalesia Kelisano Tuvalu (Christian Church in Tuvalu) said: "Our national stand is that relocation is not an option. Although this is our national stand, I am saying to the churches we must also have a plan B. It is the grassroots that will be most affected."
