Are you looking for a chance to be a part of the leadership team that is equipping the United Reformed Church to be a vibrant and relevant church into the next decade?

The Deputy General Secretary (Discipleship) leads the Discipleship department, managing and working with the teams of Children’s and Youth Work, Church Related Community Work and Special Category Ministry, Education and Learning, Ministries and Safeguarding.

As a full member of the General Secretariat you will share in the exercise of theologically-informed Christian leadership of the Offices of the General Assembly, ensuring the implementation of decisions of General Assembly and Assembly Executive, and effective running of the whole staff team. You have experience of a wide spectrum of ministries, knowledge of, appreciation and sensitivity to the complex nature of the URC and a wide awareness of contemporary political and social issues with an ability to reflect on them theologically. This is a time of rapid change within the life of the Church; as an effective team player, you will be a change-maker and excited about evolving this role. Being a creative leader with the ability to inspire, manage and motivate a team is essential.

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010: Part 1,Schedule 9, there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practising Christian and a member of the United Reformed Church or member of a church which belongs to one or more of World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), Disciples Ecumenical Consultative Council (DECC), the Council for World Mission (CWM)
