Here’s your round-up of local news from around the United Reformed Church (URC) over the past seven days.
East Midlands Synod’s Youth Representative Ella Lemon has organised and undertaken an 87-mile walk with friends and colleagues to raise money for Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.
Ella’s group walked The Ridgeway National Trail in five days to raise money for the charity. Ella and friends aim to raise £4,500 but have so far raised £3,025. To support their walk and give to Young Minds, please visit here.
Congratulations to yourchurch which has become the first online congregation to be awarded A Rocha UK’s Bronze Eco Church Award!
yourchurch started life during the first lockdown as a way for Worsley Road URC to meet during the pandemic. It soon attracted regular worshippers from across the URC, other denominations, and joiners from South Africa, the US and Germany.

Elmwood Avenue United Reformed Church in Mersey Synod marked 25 years in its current home last month.
The church can trace its history back 150 years to 1872, when it was established by the owners of the Cockhedge Mill.
Elmwood’s congregation marked the anniversary with a special afternoon tea and volunteers collated a timeline to document the church’s history.

Members of Revidge Fold URC alongside Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s Integration Project spent time on Pentecost Sunday building a sensory garden for the Dementia café at the church.
Daleen Ten Cate said: “We were privileged to work alongside people from diverse backgrounds and celebrated diverse languages from Ivory Coast, India, Africa, and Bangladesh.”
