Are you passionate about communicating with young people and young adults?
URC Youth is an organisation for all young people aged 11- 25 with a connection to the United Reformed Church. URC Youth elect a Youth Executive each year to run an annual Youth Assembly, to be the voice of young people, enact resolutions, and promote young people’s engagement in the life of the church. There is a strong emphasis on inclusion, diversity, mental health, social justice, and environmental issues.

During this Internship you will support the work of URC Youth to increase connection and engagement with young people across England,Scotland and Wales in conjunction with the URC Children’s and Youth Work team.

You will work as part of a team; to create and post promotional material, manage a schedule for communication and assist in production of press releases, written resources, and web content.

The role involves a combination of office-based and home-based working with regular travel within the Synod area and on occasion, in the UK. The Synod Office is at 4 College Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 8JJ.

Background
The United Reformed Church (Northern Province) Trust Limited is a charitable company, acting as trustee for some 150 church, residential and other properties mainly in north east England, as well as for the funds of the Northern Synod of the URC. It exercises oversight of and provides advice and grants to local churches across the region. It is one of the 13 synods which make up the United Reformed Church (URC) with oversight of the local churches and activities of the URC in the North-East.
We are looking for a Property Officer to ensure properties are effectively maintained and to develop a Property Strategy. The post-holder will report to the Property Sub-committee Convenor and will liaise with the Synod Listed Buildings Advisory Committee Convenor when necessary. As part of the Field Support Team, you will work closely with the Trust Officer as well as developing effective working relationships with property consultants, estate agents and church members.

Full-time, Permanent post

Salary £24,500 - £27,000 (dependent upon qualifications and experience)

Northern College, training students for ministry in the United Reformed Church, the Congregational Federation and the British Province of the Moravian Church, are seeking a College Administrator to succeed the present postholder who is retiring.

The successful candidate would be expected to use SAGE to support the financial administration of the college, to be able to work confidentially with staff and student records and with respect with persons of faith, and to have a proven track record of efficient administrative roles and good knowledge of excel and word. Ability to update the college’s website would be an advantage. All necessary training would be offered, together with full induction.

Working hours are 40 per week based at Luther King House in South Manchester. The postholder would be expected to be present in the College for full-time students’ attendance and essential meetings, but flexibility of hours and work base are also negotiable.

The ideal start date is 1October 2021, but another date might be negotiable.

Helping lead strategic change for the United Reformed Church

Do you have the organisational skills and experience to lead our Discipleship team as we seek to serve the rapidly changing needs of local churches and Synods in the 21st Century?

As the Deputy General Secretary (Discipleship) you will lead this key department, managing and working with the teams which play a vital role in our Children’s and Youth Work, Church Related Community Work, Education and Learning, Ministries and Safeguarding. You will enable the development of the department as it seeks to resource the wider church, serving local churches and Synods as they grow disciples.

As a member of the General Secretariat you will also share in the exercise of theologically-informed Christian leadership of the United Reformed Church ensuring the resources of the Church serve the needs of local worshipping and witnessing communities.

You will have a good understanding of discipleship and its development, knowledge of the complex nature of the URC and an ability to ensure that vision becomes reality through effective policy making and governance. You will be a leader, and a proven people manager with the skills and confidence to manage a range of complex people and organisational situations.
