Alleluia, Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed, Alleluia!

Love, hope, salvation. Having journeyed through Lent and Holy Week, I wonder what your Easter Sunday routine is?

Maybe it starts with sharing Holy Communion at dawn? Or a special Easter breakfast? A big gathering with family and friends, perhaps? Or a joyful Easter service? Maybe it involves going to work? Maybe the Easter breakfast and joyful service are work?

bannerpalmsunday1Today is Palm Sunday – marking the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday. Palm Sunday is a day when Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. Each of the four Gospels describes Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem – where the crowds greeted him by laying down their cloaks and waving palm branches. Yet immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, he begins his journey to the cross. The Revd Fiona Thomas, United Reformed Church secretary to the education and learning committee, offers the following reflection for Palm Sunday:

URC Logo Medium 2014The United Reformed Church’s Synod of Scotland has made the decision to divest from fossil fuels and agreed that no further investment in fossil fuels shall take place. The resolution on divestment was passed at the Synod Meeting, which took place 20 to 22 March, at the Scottish Police College, in Tulliallan, Fife.
