CA RED RGBThis year Christian Aid is marking 70 years since its founding. At first, at Christian Aid, we wondered whether we should make anything of this at all. We saw that we couldn't really 'celebrate', since there is much to mourn that we are still here, that poverty is still with us, not yet history. We were wary of the kind of a nostalgia that might distract from today's task. We worried about the temptations of the congratulation that can be self deceiving.

United Reformed Church Mission Council Day 2:

Day 2 of Mission Council was opened with morning prayers by the Revd Nigel Uden – he called on the Mission Council to remember that: “everything we do and are seen to do is done in response to God’s grace.” Remembering also that: “for each and every one of us our body is multifaceted... it is to think, feel, do and say – that we are invited to offer.” It was with this in mind that the Council went on to consider the following papers and resolution:

The Mission Council of the United Reformed Church unanimously passed an emergency resolution today, Saturday 9 May, expressing the URC’s solidarity with those who are persecuted around the world for their faith, and calling on the newly-elected British government to prioritise religious freedom.
