Augustine United Church Edinburgh entire church photoAugustine United Church (AUC) in Edinburgh – a member of the United Reformed Church National Synod of Scotland – has received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an architectural conservation project. A £31,500 development grant has been awarded to help the church progress its plan to: Repair and conserve the building’s roof, install insulation to assist with energy conservation and provide new and improved audio visual facilities as well as visitor information to promote the church’s architectural, cultural and theological heritage.

Mary WebsterWhen Mary Webster (pictured, centre) quit work in 1954 to look after her parents, she started a whole new movement. A memorial service will be held on Sunday 5 July at Eltham United Reformed Church, to celebrate her life, the work of the carers movement and the 50th anniversary of her charity, Carers UK. The service will be led by the Revd Richard Church, the URC deputy general secretary (discipleship); Heléna Herklots, chief executive of Carers UK; and the Revd Tod Gobledale, minister of St Andrew’s URC, Brockley.
