Take Time to Trust

Read: Psalm 63:1-8

Consider this:

Life isn’t always easy. Big challenges, difficult situations and the general busyness of life can leave us feeling tired and drained.

As you reflect on this Psalm, focus on those parts of your life which feel weak and worn out. Let the words soak into your heart as you sit in the loving gaze of God. God made you. God knows you. God is with you, always, in everything you face.

The Psalmist is in a place of drought, a place without water, without sustenance, without hope. Yet they put their trust in God, knowing that all will be well.

So often we get caught up in the stress and strain of the situation around us that we forget to simply be still and know that we, as children of God, have been created with the gifts and talents we need to deal with everything life throws at us, even if we don’t think we can.

Imagine that living water is permeating through every part of your body, healing and re-energising you. Open your heart to God and tell God how you are feeling. Listen to God’s response to you. What does God say? How does God want you to respond?

Quietly reflect on anything else you want to say and have a conversation for as long as you need to.

Offer this prayer:

In stress and strain, dear Lord,

May we rest in your peace.

In mystery and uncertainty, dear Lord,

May we soak in your wisdom.

In doubt, pain, emptiness, questioning and nothingness,

Let us always put our trust in you, for you alone are the guide, source and goal of all that we need to live life to the full.

We ask these things in your name and for your glory alone. AMEN.
