You may already be familiar with the United Reformed Church’s (URC) prayer handbook. It's our perennially popular collection of prayers and meditations from prayer writers across the denomination. As with the past two years, we are continuing with our bid to widen the authorship of the prayer handbook and are, once again, inviting prayer writers from every part of the denomination – and beyond – to consider submitting prayers for the 2019 prayer handbook.

There is a general theme – of Seasons of the Spirit – to inspire you – and writers are also particularly encouraged to reflect on the dynamics of praise and lament in the Psalms that feature in the 2019 lectionary readings.

If you are interested in writing for the 2019 handbook, please read the full guidelines for further information, and, if you have further queries please email us.

We hope prayers will come in from all corners of the United Reformed Church and are actively encouraging prayer writers of all ages, all traditions, all nationalities, to submit prayers for possible inclusion on the 2019 handbook. If you write prayers, write one for us!

  • process authorised non-payroll payments from URC Trust funds
  • regular, ad hoc and annual financial reporting for the URC Trust, its associated charities and funds (accountants)

2. Payroll and pensions

What we do

  • operate payrolls for ministers’ stipends, staff salaries and retired ministers’ and widow(er)s’ pensions
  • administer the URC Ministers’ Pension Fund and liaise with The Pensions Trust who administer the staff scheme
  • provide taxation administration and guidance for ministers and staff paid via our payrolls

3. Retired Ministers’ Housing Society (RMHS)

What we do

  • assist retiring ministers to meet their housing needs during retirement, aiming to provide adequate housing suitable for long-term occupation
  • maintain, with the assistance of local volunteers, around 350 properties tenanted by retired ministers, arranging inspections and repairs
  • manage around 20 properties occupied as manses by centrally appointed ministers
